Teaching assistant in
Biology, School of Science and Technology
I graduated from the
University of Manchester (UK) and hold BSc in Biotechnology. During the
university years I was interested in bioremediation of rare metals and
development of algae-based oral vaccines.
I joined the School of
Science and Technology at Nazarbayev University in 2011. My interests so far include
cancer research, the role of viruses and bacteria in the development of
gastrointestinal cancer, and methods of treatment of patients after stroke.
Working
in Dr. Gilman’s lab gives me an opportunity to grasp new knowledge in the mechanisms
of disease development, share novel ideas and learn new essential lab techniques. Currently I am working with an alternative model organism, zebrafish Danio rerio, for hypoxic-ischemic brain damage, which has been a recent method to understand cellular and molecular
pathophysiology of hypoxic ischemia for screening neuroprotective drugs to
collect pre-clinical data.
