I’m an undergraduate
student and my major is Biomedicine. My interests are focused on the science
behind the various kinds of diseases and pathologies. Our knowledge is still lacking many
important concepts, like treatment of autoimmune conditions, which can be
grasped and developed in the near future for the benefit of numerous people.
I finished Biology and
Chemistry University Preparatory Course developed by the University College
London at Nazarbayev University, here in Astana. Then I decided to concentrate
on medicine and research joining the School of Science and Technology at
Nazarbayev University, as well. I consider getting into medical school after graduating
from the BSc program.
Currently I am working
in Dr. Charles Gilman’s laboratory, which focuses on various issues of cerebral
ischemia (stroke) such as mechanisms of neural cell death and proliferation and
improvement of long term outcomes of patients who have suffered cerebral ischemia
etc. Working in the lab is an outstanding experience for me; it helps to
develop practical and intellectual skills of doing real-life science, working
and cooperating with the people of different backgrounds from different parts
of the world.
